Recommended RecordingsRecommended Compilations

As part of Our RecommendationsRecommended Recordings and Recommended Recordings-Compilations, we recommend Masters of Memphis Blues, a 4 CD box set from JSP Records.

Masters of Memphis Blues contains the complete early recordings (1928-1935) of important artists like Furry Lewis and Robert Wilkins with selections from the recordings of Gus Cannon and Frank Stokes, as well as lesser known artists like Little Buddy Doyle and Allen Shaw.

The remastering is well done; the sound is very good for recordings of this era.
